trying out a new journaling style
I started using a crok'book sketchbook the other day, and I've been trying out new little things in it.
In the past, I've either written in various notebooks (writing only) or kept sketchbooks of my drawings and paintings, but I've never merged the two.
I've been experimenting with printing images and making tiny mood boards, but idk, it may be too cutesy for me. Just trying things out and seeing how it feels, trying hard not to self-judge the process.
I've been printing photos out too. I thought about getting a proper photo album, but I like to incorporate bits of writing around them. Less formal, more play.
Circular thoughts throughout the years: don't use markers, highlighters, and such because they won't last, they're not archival, but I should let this idea go. I want the goal to be about play, discovery, following curiosities, and less about pristine preservation. Art and writing for now, not later.
The question I keep circling is: what does my creative practice look like if I'm not trying to sell anything? What do I want to make?
This morning
It's pouring out. I made a small breakfast and a coffee. Lately, I've been learning about pour-over coffee methods and also how to use a moka pot. Both ways seem overly complicated, as everyone has their own preparation methods. I've been drinking instant coffee for a long time (!!!). It's time to learn to prepare a real cup of coffee, n'est-ce pas?
I can hear someone playing classical piano, softly, in one of the surrounding apartments. It pairs well with the falling rain.
