I'm melting! Melting! Oh, what a world, what a world!

I'm sipping my third cup of coffee.

The day ahead: open and free.

AC is on full speed, as we're having a nuclear meltdown of heat waves.

I've been on a research extravaganza this morning, looking up film for my camera and potential tape decks. I've given up on trying to find one at a secondhand store. I've looked far and wide, and still nothing.

I've seen a couple on eBay, but I'm not interested in replacing belts or fiddling with it much. I just want to play some tapes. So I might have to settle for something from Best Buy or Amazon (i know, not my fav place to shop, but sometimes it can't be avoided).

Had a long phone convo with a friend last night about the dynamics of being a top, bottom, vers, or side. For context: he's gay, and I'm bi/pansexual.

Sometimes I find all these labels/language so limiting. I mean, sexuality is so complex. Why do we insist on imposing such rigid tickboxes on people? Plus, it hinges on heteronormative gender roles, which is so tired.

I guess his reality/experience differs from mine, which is understandable. When asked about my preferences, I told him I generally lean more sub with men and top with women, but again, it also depends on the person i'm with and the current mood/situation. Plus, I think the dichotomy of top/bottom (other than power obv) centers mostly on penetration...when there are so many other nuanced ways of being intimate with someone.

I'm not sure why I'm writing this here, perhaps because writing is thinking and I'm trying to parse out my feelings from yesterday's convo. More on this later (?)

Getting ready to go out for a bite to eat with a friend, then we're off to the west end for a bookstore jaunt. We might bring the doggo to the park later if the weather doesn't kill us out there first. We shall see!

Fell asleep watching Jennifer's Body last night...parts of it haven't aged well, but it's still a fun watch.
