finding work and writing letters

I’m sitting on my couch perusing job applications, and most of these descriptions are absurdly laughable. They’re all about what they want from you with zero enticements to what they’re willing to offer you.

You also need the equivalent of a Master's degree to get a basic admin position these days.

Like ???

Must be willing to work day/nights/weekends/whole life and be highly motivated to go above and beyond with a smile plastered over your face.

Sigh.

Accepting that my creative work will probably never save me from office work drudgery is disheartening.

The inability to financially support myself with my writing/art feels like a personal failure, even though I know this is the case with so many creatives.

I don’t want to lament too long over this subject as I’ve written about this at nauseam, it’s just that it’s so fucking discouraging and emotionally draining sometimes.

I went camping last week in Algonquin with K; it was such a break from the everyday, and breathing and frolicking in the pines for a few days was such an emotional balm. I wrote a sneak peek about it here, along with some photographs.🌲

I also wrote a letter yesterday about my fav stationery, thoughts on blogging, learning a new song, and some cute links to things I've been paying attention to this week.

I'm pouring most of my writing energy into my weekly letters, so if you want to keep up with my shenanigans, art, writing, and general life updates, I'd love for you to come hang out with me in that space :) 🍑
